Episode 10280:My Trip To Kansas and The Beef I Met There
August 20, 2012 9:48 amMeatopia‘s beef sponsor, Creekstone Farms, has the most cutting-edge and humane operation in the country. But it still must be horrible, right? That’s what I thought until I went there, and followed the beef from pasture to plate. Seeing as how they are a sponsor and all, you might not believe me so I brought a cameraman.
Warning: this video is NSFV (not safe for vegetarians.) Seriously, it’s pretty hardcore. There’s no violence shown, but some animals were harmed in the making of it. (As in all of them.)
You were in my home state, and I didn’t even get to be all creepy stalker on you? Dammit.
Thank’s Josh for showing people how and where some of the food we enjoy comes from. Much like many hunters experience with food they have personally brought to the table, I believe a greater level of respect for the food is gained when we are more directly exposed to it’s source. Waste and Gluttony seem kinda selfish when we see this.
Good for you on witnessing the death of the cattle. I have seen that process too, and it was not pleasant. Its not for everyone, but for those who are willing, it gives you a greater respect for beef and for the people involved in bringing said beef to the table.
For me the highlight was the gold helmet with Honored Guest. Which is what I feel like most weeks when you post a video an honored guest into the world of Ozersky.
Hey Josh,
Thanks for this video. I’m sorry that I never got a chance to go here with you, but it is a great video none-the-less. I think my favorite shot is the long lens shot of you walking happily in the pasture with the cows. I only wish you’d taken us all the way to the killing floor.
I’m really really glad you did this!
Yr. Pal,
Jeff
